Tips To Get Traffic From Guest Posts
Write Quality Content
The most important part of guest posting is that you write quality
content that the websites readers would enjoy. Most people think that
quantity is what will get you the most traffic when in reality will get
you 10 times more traffic and a lot faster too. The trick to writing
quality content is to come up with your title and all the key points
first and then expand on them. Just know that nobody is a perfect writer
and the more guest posts you do the better you will become.
Participate In The Comments
One thing that is vital to getting traffic to your site is to answer
and respond to all the comments that are posted on your guest post. The
reason why this works to get more traffic is because you can then point
the commentators to articles that you have written that might solve a
problem or answer a question that they have. The goal of participating
in the comments is not to steal as much traffic as you can, the goal is
to establish trust and show your expertise in the field that you are
writing in.
Write 2 Guest Posts Per Week
Something that I have been doing for a while now is writing 2 guest
posts each week and it has worked quite well for me. The traffic that
you get from guest postings will greatly improve your website but once
you stop writing the traffic will slowly digress. The reason why I only
write 2 guest posts per week is so that I don’t neglect my own websites
and the business that I am trying to build.
Expand The Audience
If you want to get loads of traffic then you need to write guest
posts for a bunch of different websites. The reason why writing guest
posts for a bunch of different websites works is because you will expand
your audience beyond your usual readers. Most website owners don’t see
the upside to this but what you need to realize is that every guest post
you write will attract some different people and you never know if
those people will result in some kind of profit for you.
The last thing I want to make sure you understand about guest posting
is that it will take some time, you can’t just write 10 high quality
posts in a single day and expect them to get published. Writing a guest
post takes times and that is why writing 2 per week is a great starting
point for you. Just remember that when it comes to getting traffic guest
posts are the “Easy way out”.

I know that I mentioned Stumbleupon in my last post and said that it's possible to get an extra 1000 visits from them via their website. However, for one of my posts I've now had over 81 thousand hits over the last seven days - see stats below.
SHARE LIKE THIS POST CLICK HEAR
This has given me massive traffic - at least for the blog concerned. As you will see from the stats below the blog had 37290 visitors yesterday and 51840 page views. For the previous day it was 26847 and 35882.

I'm not for one minute suggesting that this can be achieved all the time but it does indicate the power of Stumbleupon as a traffic generating tool.
I've heard people say negative things like, "Yea, but it isn't good traffic, it's not targeted." To this I'd simply say, "Rubbish!"
Sure some of the readers won't be ideal, some might well hate what they find, but there will be some who like the blog, will subscribe and will even link to you. That has to be nothing but good.
Because of Stumbleupon I've also had hits from Facebook and other blogs and websites which have happened all by themselves.
I can't honestly tell you why this particular post took off in the way it did. Could well be just luck but it's good to know that this can happen and if it doesn't you should still get a few hits.
I'm now looking at Twitter as a traffic generating tool. Not too convinced about this but at the moment I'm trying to build my followers. So far I've gone from nil to over 700 followers. I'm joining lists where people say that if you will follow them on Twitter they will also follow you back.
I can't say yet if this will be of benefit and will get back to you on this in due course.
We had seen lot of buzz about BlogRush in the last two months. The grand launch was followed by unexpected huge response from the bloggers. As a result, BlogRush went into the hiding for close to a month and came back with a bang.
How is my blog doing?
When I first saw the phase 2 reports, I was really impressed. The reports are really attractive and very use to analyze. But, the bottom line is whether BlogRush bringing in any traffic to you? I thought of doing a simple study and took the data for the last 30 days. Here is the screen shot of my credits earned:
The numbers look really good with about 14,000 bonus credits earned in addition to the 10,000 credits earned by my traffic and my referrals traffic. But, the real picture emerges when I consider the number of visitors it brought to our blog.

Conversion Rate
It brought about 12 visitors. So, the conversion rate works out to about 0.05%. If I just ignore the bonus credits and compute the click rate based on my credits and my referral credits, it works out to about 0.12%. That is just one click for every 1000 displays of the title links.
Important Observation
I have noted another strange behaviour in my referral statistics graph. Take a look at the following graph:

I found it difficult to comprehend the sudden drop in the referral credits. I believe this may be due to those bloggers removing the widget from the blog. Does that dipping graph is in line with a dipping interest about BlogRush? In fact, I don't see any traffic from 3 of my first level referrals. Quite strange.
Conclusion
Is BlogRush doing justice to the precious sidebar space it is occupying? It is difficult to answer. I am not doing anything more than just displaying the widget. No promotion, no time spent on it. I agree that BloggingZoom has brought in much more traffic, but I also had to spend few hours regularly to achieve that. So, 12 visitors a month to this blog (about 1.5% of total traffic) from BlogRush has come without any additional effort.
If your sidebar is precious enough and you can do something better, then BlogRush is not worth continuing with. But, if you are just going to fill your sidebar with another ad, then I would suggest retaining the widget to get some traffic without a sweat.
